CARD GAME ONLINE ...............(revised questions)
Hello everyone,
I want to make a multiplayer card game online, which people will play with real money via their Credit cards .........Im still researching legal issues for online gambling and the how to keep transactions secure............. The game will be played of a server on the user PC via the game interface . The interface would allow the user to connect to the game server via the INTERNET and then play online cards.
MY QUESTIONS ARE THE FOLLOWING:
what do i need to know about Servers , Internet, Banking, CC card Info, etc for an online game?
what language do i need to learn in order to make this type of game?
what platform do i need to use to create such a game?
what is the use of softwares like DarkBasic, GameMaker, Visual C++, Maya ? can it help me make a card game?
ARE THERE ANY Universities, Books, OR online courses that can teach me SPECIFICALLY on networking, servers (game creation on servers), internet/server security (which i think i will outsource)...... etc.
Please reply back with any other helpful info you can. IN GENERAL I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT GOES INTO CREATING SUCH A GAME FROM START (programming it) TO FINISH (putting it on a server and making people play online)
Moosie, i understand you have this idea. But this is the third time you have posted these questions with little if no revisions.
Sooner or later people are going to stop giving you the time of day. If you want to learn how to program, then your in the right place. I would recommend that you try and make an offline single player version of your card game. Maybe use GameMaker as this will probably give you the easiest way to get things going.
In the mean time look into the mountain of things that you have to learn about. Because at the moment i'm not entirely sure you have realised the scale of this. Just think that the game is only one part of your plan, the other parts involve lots of security issues (both in monitary terms and hardware terms), management, legalities.....etc. etc.
There are entire companies that do what you are planning to do, with hundreds of employees.

To me, your post reads like this:
You need to narrow down your questions to get any useful answer. To be able to this, you need to do more research. Any search engine is more than happy to assists you in this endeavor. Once you've done that, you should be able to ask questions like:
- What network protocol is most suitable for a real time online card game?
- What would be a good engine or framework to create a client application?
- I've looked at some books on networking in games. I really like book 'X', has anyone read it and has found it useful?
- Does anyone know where I could find free or cheap graphics of playing cards?
As you can see, these are much more straightforward to answer.
Good luck.

First task: write a single computer version of the game. Don't even think about cash until you have the game working, otherwise you may be setting up infrastructure for an impossible project.
Networking is one of the tough nuts of programming, although for a card game it is relatively simple. Set up your game so that you can play with multiple players on the same screen first; the display is not important and that will prove the game engine can handle several independent players. Once that is done come back asking for advice on networking and the other money-related stuff.
Since I have already kind of done this and I've released some source code, you might like to check out this article. The framework's far more than you will need, but the source archive contains the (C#) code for a multiplayer bridge game which might give you some ideas.
