Putting an application in your notification bar

Recommended Posts

Hey, I am writing a desktop application that I need to only be shown in the notification bar (the area by the clock). I have been searching long and far online to figure out how to do this but do not seem to find what i am looking for. Does anyone know how to take a normal window created with createWindow after registering a window class and put it in the notification bar and not show it in the typical application bar by the start menu? I appreciate the advice and suggestions and hope someone actually knows the answer.

This page here should tell you everything you need to know.

However I feel obliged to make sure you read the notification area guidelines and also this blog entry before you make yet another app that decides to park itself in the notification area without really needing to be there.

EDIT: Fixed mangled link. - jba.

Thanks for the information. I will be trying to get it to work in the next few days. My application has to be there since it will be a desktop calendar and task list for my personal use and customized for what I need. Thanks again.
