mirrored textures with Quadrics

Hi, i want to create a scroll wheel using a textured Cylinder and rotating it. The Cylinder works fine, but the texture on it is somewhat rotated by 90° and mirrored. It looks like the texture is correct in the interior of the cylinder but not on the outside. With gluQuadrics I have no option to set the TexCoords manually, so it is all done internally. One way to solve this is to mirror the texture but is there another way to tell the Cylinder to map the texture differently? Thanks in advance...
