Dear Game Developers, Seven months ago I wrote this forum asking for help to create an overfishing game. An amazing group of international volunteers, many from GameDev, helped me build a team and create an amazing game. We’ve just released "Ocean Survivor": (http://www.oceanlegacy.org/ocean_survivor.html) Please play the game, sign the petition, and share it with as many people, blogs, magazines, and websites as possible. Thanks and best wishes, Joseph Gordon jgordon-consultant@pewtrusts.org www.oceanlegacy.org Edit: Made the link clickable. [Edited by - nsmadsen on March 31, 2008 2:21:57 PM]

Working on Ocean Survivor was an utter delight! It's really great to see how a good cause alone can be such a strong motivator for a group of people. The game could have probably been released almost three or four months back had we (mainly I) considered our options more carefully when choosing a programmer for the project, but after some unfortunate incidents with our first programmer, Bernat stepped up and did an amazing job at very short time.

There are many smaller things about the game that I wouldn't mind see fixed/tweaked/changed, but all in all it's a very enjoyable, and most certainly appealing game, both visually and audibly.

I sincerely hope the game will attract a lot of interest for Ocean Legacy's petition, and that anyone that are able to help somehow, will. Also feel free to mention game communities we might want to contact, and any other means of gaining publicity.

If I get another chance to work on a flash-game with a group like this, I'll sign up immediately. Ocean Escape 2? :P

Working for WeWantToKnow. Also working on jMonkeyEngine and Maker's Tale.

There is a way to cheat though, when you go to the top of the water realy carefully you can bounce on the top of the ocean and never get caugh by any nets. Other then that: Great game.

I agree. This game was a good deal of fun to work on and I would do it again in a heart beat! I hope it serves its purpose in helping bring more light to the over-fishing issue.

Thanks,

Nathan

Wow, a lot of thought and artistry obviously went into what could easily have been a throwaway game. Bravo!
Congratulations, and I hope the game manages to draw some attention to the cause. [smile]

Thanks for the compliments! If you like the game, can you please help get a promo or the game itself get posted on as many blogs and websites as possible?

You made it!

Nice job, it looks very polished. I saw an earlier version, and this is a 100x better.
