Hey guys, I just signed up here at gamedev.net and Im ready to hit the ground running. I picked up "C++ for Dummies: The Complete Desk Reference" , but it lacks questions that actually make you think. It feels like Im copying the author's work instead of actually writing my own code. Does anyone know of a good book that can teach me C++ and ask me questions that let me apply that knowledge?

A "Desktop Reference" doesn't sound like it's even meant to teach you C++. Get a book that at least tries to teach, rather than let you look up things. You usually use references after you know the subject to just refresh your mind.
