I am using a nehe base code which i've used in the past, to create a generic opengl and I have never had any problems with it before. I have recently got a new computer and the nehe base code is taking tens of seconds to display the opengl window. I have tracked the issue down to the following two functions.. ChoosePixelFormat SetPixelFormat I initially thought it was a graphics driver issue, but it appears that i've using a fairly recent nvidia driver (forceware 91.85) so I am not so sure. It is obviously a problem with my system and not quite sure where..

I have now worked out by turning off the print spooler service, the opengl window loads instantly?!!!

why would the print spooler affect the calls to ChoosePixelFormat and SetPixelFormat?!

very weird

what made you decide to test the print spool service and turn it off?
