Does anybody know of any good tools that will take a .X file and show you what the skeleton / frame hierarchy looks like? I'm trying to debug my Blender exporter, and the DirectX Mesh Viewer is showing the animations all messed up, so I suspect there's a problem with my FrameTransformMatrix or SkinWeights matrices, but without a good tool it's hard to see exactly where the problem lies.

I know of two other tools that can import DirectX files. They're just demos, but you can still use them as viewers.
They both show the full skeleton too.

One is Milkshape 3D (www.milkshape3d.com) and the other is Unwrap 3D (www.unwrap3d.com).
Unwrap 3D uses plugins, so you'll have to download the DirectX plugin separately.

If those don't work, you can also check out Fragmotion (www.fragmosoft.com).

If you can get hold of the Feb 2005 Dx 9.0 SDK, MViewer dumps the hierarchy to a helper window. You can also select vertices and get texcoord and weight info. Source code is included.

This feature was dropped in the Dec 2005 SDK.
