Max / Pandasoft .x and alpha problems

Okay, I have created many models for .x files and up until recently I've been able to export with alpha's being used. Then some little gremlin started hacking away at my computer and now I can't export from max to .x using alpha.. the dds, png, tga, bmp32, files all fail. I've tried using other comptuers, newer and older vs of max and the panda exporter but nothing is working. I'm reaching out for some help here folks.. ANY ideas???? Settings, other exporters, anything you can think of or is this something I have to turn over to programmers for? Thanks for the help. NOTE: I'm also posting this on MAX sites too..
