Transparency in rendering pipeline.

Hi all, Been thinking about this for a while without coming up with something I'm totally happy with. Basically: what's the best way to get transparent textures into a rendering pipeline that uses single-skin models? (By transparent textures I mean things like a wire fence etc - alpha on or off). Thoughts/details: - Could do multiple render passes. - Each model has it's own single 'skin' texture. - The vast majority of models won't have any alpha, so I'd prefer not to 'waste' the skin's alpha channel on it. - Maybe extract & keep the transparent poly's separate and draw with a different skin? Ugh. Any thoughts / ways people have done this already?
