Baiting the Beast [Game Script]

Hello folks, I realize I'm deviating a bit from the content of most of these posts as this is not a game idea, it's a game script. I currently work as Creative Director for NWN2 mod team Rogue Dao Studios but I've been spending a great deal of time lately bolstering my personal portfolio. I wanted to include a script that would really highlight the differences between game writing and, for example, movie or television writing and its traditional scripting formats. I attend Westwood's Game Art and Design program and will be submitting this script for a final project in one of my classes this week. While I have 80% of it done it is quite massive so I am only including Scene One which is about 1200 words. The template I've used for this is something I made myself based off of Bioware's new template (presented on their Jobs page). It essentially formats the script so that it reads almost like a CYOA novel, allowing the user to easily navigate the conversation as if they were reading it in game. If anyone is interested, I have blank copies of the template available for use. This is the script's main page which includes a description of the story and characters, links to post updates, the status of the script, and links to the script downloads: http://ckwriting.wordpress.com/portfolio/baiting-the-beast/ You're welcome to leave comments there or in response to this post. Here's the direct link if you prefer: http://the-azarian.com/ckeene/ckeene_script1.doc I welcome constructive criticism and commentary of any kind. I plan to make this script the feature of my portfolio which will be sent with applications for game writer positions. As such I need it to be as best as it can be. Note that this is meant both as a straight dialogue script and an informal blocking/staging sheet. All narrative text (the text in bold black italics) would NOT be included in game; it merely describes the actions taken by the characters. Also because this script is meant to show off writing skill, the 'game' itself is entirely focused on making choices and solving minor puzzles through dialogue nodes. If you'd like to read the rest of the script (and I definitely need people for this!) please send me a PM or respond to this post saying as much. You have my thanks in advance, Courtney Keene Portfolio

I've got to say, that was very well written. The dialog seemed to fit well with the impression of Lucian I got. You are very good at speech. Also, the action was very detailed. Just enough so to get the idea of what you see without taking away all the liberties of imagination. Which is I guess, a long winded way of saying:

It's awesome.

I'd really like to read the rest of the script, if you're willing to let me.

And also, I'll try to give more constructive criticism instead of just boasting your talents. Unless you want me to of course.

Thanks! I really appreciate the comments. :) It's good to know I'm on the right track.

I'd love for you to read the rest of it! I'll send you a PM with more information.
