ZBrush, 3DS, Maya.

Maya and 3DS Max have no real pros or cons over each other. They both have more or less the same features, just slightly different work flows. My preference is with Maya, but that is just because that is what I spent a few years using in school while studying 3D animation.

Zbrush is well, Zbrush. It is a high poly brush modeler that allows 3d painting onto your models. Zbrush is used in conjunction with Max or Maya, not exclusively of them.

I use 3DS Max and love it, they are all great programs though.
