hi, i was wondering if there is a special name for this device im looking for. Basically i just need to be able to plug multiple devices into something like a surge protector. And i need to be able to turn this surge protectors current from on/off - off/on programmatically. Ive been googling for the past 30mins and cant find a device like this, i dont even know if it exists. Anyone have any clues? this appears to be what i need but i need something much smaller than this http://www.vp-scientific.com/Programmable%20Smart%20Switch.php also that seems to be the only search result i found under "Programmable Smart Switch" that deals with something im looking for.

Are you looking for something like this? If you read a little into it - it seems quite interesting actually

Google for "epowerswitch", might be what you're looking for.

Particularly this: http://www.epowerswitch.com/uk/p-4_multiprise.htm

this seems pretty interesting but its a little to difficult than what im looking for.

the epowerswitch thing that deadstar was talking about looks like exactly the type of thing i need. But the power connectors are not native to the USA. deadstar, know of any that are USA connectors?

A company called Leunig sells the range, they have this model that uses the 3-pin 'kettle' sockets:

The ePowerSwitch has a list of part numbers and the compatible sockets, but it doesn't seem to list USA:

The Technical Data says it supports HTTP. So it should be pretty simple to connect to it and send HTTP data to turn ports on/off.
