Hi guys, I'm currently trying to have SDL setup on VC++ 2008 express but I'm having some trouble. Every time I do a test debug I read errors stating: ------ Build started: Project: SDLTime, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ Compiling... stdafx.cpp SDLmain.lib c1xx : fatal error C1083: Cannot open source file: 'SDLmain.lib': No such file or directory SDL.lib c1xx : fatal error C1083: Cannot open source file: 'SDL.lib': No such file or directory Build log was saved at "file://c:\Users\Fox Hound\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\SDLTime\SDLTime\Debug\BuildLog.htm" SDLTime - 2 error(s), 0 warning(s) ========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ========== I created a folder titled SDL, inside I created two other folders title include and lib. Within them I placed all the specific required files. Next, I followed all the specific steps at this link, http://gpwiki.org/index.php/C:How_to_set_up_your_SDL_Build_Environment#Windows:_MSVC.2B.2B_.NET //Here is the code I used for the test debug #include "stdafx.h" #include "SDL/SDL.h" int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { SDL_init(SDL_INIT_NOPARACHUTE); return 0; } Did I title something wrong ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It looks like you have either your SDL libraries in the wrong place or didn't follow the steps correctly:
Quote:
1. On the SDL download page, get the latest version of the Windows-VC development libraries.
2. If you want to use the SDL_mixer library (for sound and music), download the Windows-VC development libraries for SDL_mixer.
3. Uncompress the SDL and SDL_mixer libraries to your local drive.
4. Consolidate the SDL includes and libraries with the SDL_mixer includes and libraries, so that they're all in a single set of \include and \lib folders. It's easier this way!
5. Launch Visual Studio .NET, but do not open a project or solution.
6. From the Tools menu, select Options...
7. In the tree view, click on Projects and then select VC++ Directories.
8. In the Show directories for box, select Include files.
9. Click the new-folder icon, and browse to the \include directory where you consolidated your SDL and SDL_mixer header files.
10. In the Show directories for box, you now need to select Library files.
11. Click the new-folder icon, and browse to the \lib directory where you consolidated your SDL and SDL_mixer library files.
12. Click OK.
