Text Rpg Inventory

I am just wondering what everyone uses for their inventory system for a text rpg. Do you use vectors, arrays, classes? I'm creating a text rpg and can now fully implement everything, except an inventory system, and spellbook system. Any suggestions, or examples would be nice. Thank you.

depends on how complex inventory you want.

a vector with IDs would do just fine.
