Help setting up SDL and OpenGL
Can somebody please give me their own step by step instructions on setting up SDL and OpenGL on VC++ Express 2008 on Windows Vista ? I have tried every possible walkthrough online and none of them seem to work. Just to clarify, it's not that I already have the two (SDL and OpenGL) setup on the compiler and am trying to integrate the two, it's that I cannot get either one to work.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Pick one and post exactly what's going wrong. My base code, and I imagine most people's, is too large with most code specific to my own library.
We need to know more exactly what is going wrong.
Here you will find tutorials to set up SDL. Here is a tutorial on using SDL and OpenGL together, though it seems that you are having other problems.
EDIT: Ok, thanks yaustar for clarifying. In the future, Rising Sun, just use the same thread for help. The other thread has all the information in it, and this one is pretty pointless.
For SDL:
Download the SDL files and unzip them. Create a folder called "SDL" in the include directory of your IDE and copy the files from the include folder in the SDL folder you just downloaded to that folder. Copy the files from the lib folder to the lib folder of your IDE. In order to compile, set the linker to link to SDL.lib and SDLmain.lib (in VC++). I believe everything should compile. Last, in order to run the .exe you must copy SDL.dll to the folder with the executable file or alternatively just copy it to C:/windows/system32 and you won't have to worry about it again unless you distribute the application.
I probably left something out, but without more information I can't help you much more than what the tutorials already say. Also, questions like this would receive more help if placed in "For Beginners" or the alternate libraries forum.
