Hello, I'm new to XNA and wanted to know of a good way to simulate the look of ocean water? I have this carrier I built and it needs some water:) If you have an example or anything that would be great, I'll probly have to study up. I'm using 3DS Max, can I add in a .FX file and get it to pass the variables to XNA/DirectX? Also I'm having this problem with objects that are behind glass, half of them show up and sometimes I can see right thru meshes:( Any idea how to fix this problem, I have lots of objects with glass that must render correctly, L8r MajSlayer

There are a number of methods of rendering water depending on your skills, the type of effect you want and the abilities of the machine you are targetting. Water though is probably one of the hardest effects to get right though.

A few ideas here - You could try creating procedural textures for your water surface. Create procedural meshes for waves. You could use several layers of semi-tranparent textures - that would allow you so see (a shadow of )the hull of your ship. Take a look at perlin noise and procedural textures on google for more info.

As to your second question, I don't quite understand your problem. Perhaps posting an image would explain things a little clearer.
