Hi all I'm studying systems engineering and In a subject I'm working on a project that focuses on a feasibility study about some software for a game publishing company, we have stablished the problems that we are going to focus on, like following the development of a project and some tools for marketing. The problem is that I can't find much info about the video game publishing process or business model, the most useful link I found is this one: http://www.gamesinvestor.com/Research/Business_models/Publishing/publishing.htm but I need more information because I must explain the systems and process of a videogame publisher as detailed as possible and for that I need more information. If you can give me links, information or recommend me books I would be very grateful. Thanks for reading the so long post. [Edited by - Kodekeeper on June 12, 2008 2:51:49 PM]

There is probably as many processes, systems, tool chains and art pipelines as there are studios out there. Each studio has its own 'recipe' for making games. You should instead contact a local developer in your area and ask them what productivity tools they would like to have which is not readily available in the marketplace and would cost too much in time & resources to make themselves.

Hope this helps.

Thanks all, the book is superuseful I read the section one and that gave me a lot of resources for the description of the systems. About contacting a local development company in my country there is just http://www.immersionsoftware.com/ and thats about it, and they didn't answer any emails, but I think with the info on the book, and some stuff I've read on the web and a little bit of imagination I'll be able to pull off something insteresting, thanks a lot for yiur help.
