shadow map problem

Has anyone encountered the problem that shadow caster is shadowed when you decrease shadow map texture size? My shadow works perfectly fine with 1280x1280 shadow map, but when i try to use 320x320 shadow map, some portions of shadow casters (character/building) are shadowed.

Sounds like a biasing problem to me, you may have to tweak your bias to get it just right for certain scenes. You may also want to try rendering back-faces when you create your shadowmap...that should alleviate problems such as these.
