OpenGL translating light attenuation values for use

Hi all, I'm working on using translating 3d max light parameters into opengl ones. Position and direction colour are fairly obvious. But does anyone know what I use for attenuation factors and specular? Max gives out light parameters but I have no idea what to use for attenuation? I'm guessing specular might be LIGHT_COLOUR*LIGHT_INTENS? Anyone any ideas?
