What is the best free Cross Platform library that can be used to develop comercial applications? As I understand WGL is only for Windows. What lib do I need so my OpenGL app is understandable in other OS'es also, granted that the lib is more evolved than GLUT.

For windowing and input output: SDL.
For scene graph: OpenScenGraph.

You should also consider Ogre or Irrlich, both multi-platform.

I mostly use GLFW for cross-platform games. If you're coding a cross-platform application with OpenGL support, I'd go for Qt.

Hope I've been able to help,
Jeroen

SDL, and OpenGL are a great combo for doing what you want. SDL works with many GUI interfaces seamlessly also.
