debugging weirdness

Why does the following happen? As you can see, i have a variable data1, which doesn't appear in the debug windows, not even if i add it to the watch list. Im having the same issue in other parts of the code, variables that i need to debug arnt coming up, and if you have a look in the autos window, there's lots of empty assigned debug variables. screen shot below Photobucket

Do you have any optimization turned on? Optimizers sometimes get rid of variables that they deem unnecessary (and use different techniques to replace them). Try turning optimization off and retrying.

It looks like a debug build -> I didn't think many (if any?) of the VS optimizations were allowed...

What is PNT? Class, typedef, etc?

Could be a Release build. You can combine, for example, /Z7 and /O2. This allowed me to reproduce the problem of not being able to see certain variables in the watch window.
