How can I draw a map with GL_LINE_STIPPLE? URGENT!

How can I draw a map with GL_LINE_STIPPLE? I have many points,which can compose a map. The distances between points are very short. I want to know how can I use them to draw a map with the form of stipple line. I have tried any methods, but the results are not what I want. such as ,when I set the second parameter of glLineStipple is 0xcccc or 0xeeee,or 0x3333, the result also like 0x5555(0101 0101 0101 0101) because of the points are very densely. How to solve it, who can help me?

You could instead use a quad, combined with a (1D) texture. By manipulating the UV coordinates, and setting the texture parameters to repeat, you'll have a lot more control over your stipple line.
