I encrypted some files, changed my password and now it wont let me access the files. WTFrick? Now what? I tried changing the encryption by toggling it off then back on, but it says I need administrator privelages, even when I log in with the administrator acount. Seriously, is this some sort of joke? Please help, Microsoft is holding my data hostage. -Devin

Last i remember windows uses your password as the seed for the encryption key. You can't open the encrypted files unless you have your password set to what it was when you selected use encryption. (But i could be just spouting jibberish...)

OMG, that's insane. Perhaps that should be a disclaimer for when you first encrypt something? Anyways ya I had to change my password back to get the data back. Thanks for the help.
