Beginner books that explain in simple english?
I'm a girl and it is my dream to remake a game like Ultima VII or make a game similar to Ultima VII. I would like to learn about C++ programming and now looking for a beginner C++ book that explain in simple english.
I've searched gamedev.net and it recommended:
C++ Primer
Accelerated C++
and so on...
So I wonder, are these books good enough for people like me to understand?
Before you reinvent the wheel:
http://exult.sourceforge.net/
As for the book, the best one I know of is "Thinking in C++", which you can get for free here:
http://www.mindview.net/Books/TICPP/ThinkingInCPP2e.html
It isn't up to date with all the latest developments (boost for example), but it is a very good starting point.
Are you sure you want to learn C++ though? Nowadays you have more choices. For example, learning C# in combination with the XNA framework might just be a lot easier in your case.

Oh, yes.. I'm aware of exult. In fact, I've just beat Ultima VII Serpent Isle with Exult. I want to remake the game with ... something different.
Actually... I'm not really sure. I think I'm okay learning any programming language as long as it explains in simple english. I found myself having problems learning stuff because of hard understandable english.

If any language is Ok, then look at Python. I learned it with the tutorial that came with my installation, I think that's the link labeled 'Tutorial' on the page I linked. It's a good language to start with.
when you've got Python down, go to Pygame.
By the way, is English not your first language? A lot of tutorials have been translated into other languages. You might try googling for help in your language.

I've learned a lot from Beginning C++ Game Programming. There is a newer edition now, but I've never read it.
