SDL_Net recv block

Hey all, I'm currently using SDL_Net to code a multiplayer game. However, I have a slight problem. The accept function isn't blocking as with winsocks which is cool, but the recv one still does. Now, SDL_Net has no function like select() so I don't see any other way than starting multiple thread (one for each client) which I dont want to do. Any ideas? Thanks.
