2d sidescroller logic

ok i can detect when aabb's (the actor) and other aabb's and triangles (the map) collide and what angle they are colliding. The problem is i dont know how to make the actor follow the ground. Right now i have a variable that i set called "onground" and make the gravity zero if he is on the ground so he doesnt stick to it in one place. This works for the AABB map objects but when I get to the triangles the character bounces down it and doesnt go up it. How do games such as mario bros implement the sloped floors?
