I know xna is a new and big thing with a lot of online tutorials and books and videos and websites and such but I was wondering about directx. I am looking through directxtutorial.com, chad vernon's tutorials, codesampler, and a couple other tutorials but it seems like there is easily not as many as 1/3 of the xna. Why is that? Can you recommend some other tutorials because going through google i have found websites who's last update was 1997 and some dead ones.

IF you want latest, I thought the DX SDK comes with tutorials, from beginner to advance level?

XNA is easier to use and learn than DirectX/Win32 API. Likewise, C# is easier to use and learn than C++. If you're just starting out I highly recommend starting with XNA and then making the transition to pure DirectX when you've reason to do so.

Cheers!
