General Importer c++

Hy. I'm writing a c++ library for the importation of meshes from 3ds and maya ,an future implementation. I create a base class Creader and inherit from it c3ds(for 3dstudio)and cmaya(for maya) Class C3ds:Creader { bool nextShell() { if(importationshellEnd) return false; else return true } void importShell(CString shellid,CString material ecc...) { // data extraction } } I'm writing next a general importation class CImportfile Class CImportFile { . . .//select the importer , from maya file or 3ds file pApi=new c3ds()or pApi=new cMaya() for (pApi->nextSHell) { CString strShellid,strMaterial; pApi->ImportSHell(&shellid,&material) { insert in a polygon class the data(shell,vertex ,edge ecc..) } } pApi->ImportMaterial() } This is a generic implemetation for the importer. My problem is that this class work fine for db importation , where i know the number of object(shell,material,vertex ecc..)and get the data is not sequential (i'm use sql),but for a file like 3ds or maya i'm not know before the number of object and get the data is more complicated than a db. What you advice to me? Thanks in advance.
