Hi! I tried to create a DirectX 10 Device as explained in the sample project "MiniTri": Device = new D3D10.Device(D3D10.DeviceCreationFlags.Debug); But I always get a DXGI_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED Exception at this line. I have installed the lates DirectX Runtimes and Windows Vista, DXDiag confirmes that DirectX 10 is installed. What's happening and how can I be sure DX10 is supported? Thanks, Christian

Can you run the D3D10 DXSDK samples on your machine? I would guess that you don't have the hardware to support it - you need an Nvidia GeForce 8x00, 9x00 or ATI Radeon 2xx0 (?), 3xx0 or 4xx0. Having the software is not enough in D3D10's case.

Hi Jack,
thanks for your quick answer. I have a Notebook with a GeForce 9300M G which has "Full Microsoft® DirectX® 10 Support" according to the NVidia website (http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9300m_g.html Overview -> Features).

I can run the samples in the SDK but they open a dialog saying they need the reference device to run. They render with a fps around 0.5 Hz, obviously there is no hardware support at all. What's wrong?

Christian

I already tried, but it seems like there is no driver available...

The product page "Drivers & Downloads" only contains some stupid advertising videos, and the list of available drivers at the main page does not contain the 9300M. Strange, isn't it?

For whatever reason the story with GPU drivers and laptops hasn't been very good for years. It strikes me that the normal process is to download 3rd party tweaked/hacked drivers as the vendors won't ever update theirs... [headshake]

Cheers,
Jack
