D3D10: where's ID3DXEffectCompiler?

Hi, I'm not really using D3D10 at the moment, but just out of curiosity: where is the counterpart of D3D9's ID3DXEffectCompiler? I really like the effect compiler interface as it allows me to make certain parameters literal to optimize the shader code. I browsed the D3D10 docs but could not find anything like it, nor any other way to make variables literal. Is there any way to achieve the same in D3D10 (except using macros, of course)? Regards, Andre Edit: oh, wait. Maybe it's possible to use ID3DXEffectCompiler to mess with the literals and then put the output of ID3DXEffectCompiler::CompileEffect into D3D10CreateEffectFromMemory to create the D3DX10 effect. Has anyone tried this? (No DX10 HW here, sorry)
