I am developing a game that are going to be played by two players using web browsers. The players play against each other. However since they cannot talk directly with each other, each talking to the web server that host the game, getting the other's reaction through the server. I am looking for books or articles on techniques for developing these kind of games. Any suggestions are welcome. I was/am a web developer of the usual client/server type so I understand general web development reasonably well. What I am looking for are tips on special issues where the main focus are for two clients interact most efficiently, etc. [Edited by - huoyangao on July 26, 2008 5:01:18 AM]

The day you find it, please tell me. [smile]

Really, the only book I've found on the subject is PHP Game Programming, and it fails badly by trying to teach the basics of HTML and PHP and then suddenly jumping to GD, sockets, and MMO programming in the last third of the pages.

Really, PHP is quite easy compared to C, and things are pretty restricted (you generally only output text, and GD images perhaps). Nothing to worry about memory, GUI elements, etc.

If you try something smaller, you'll quickly grasp it and be able to make a game.

Making a good gameplay is the hardest part I guess...
