underwater color shader

I've searched around and found lots of stuff about rendering waves, godrays, caustics, etc. But I can't find anything on determining the color/fogging of an underwater scene, particularly deap ocean underwater. anyone got anything tasty?

I guess you mean realistic fogging over distance. Fogging in this respect is due to light being scattered from particulate matter suspended in a medium, or even the medium itself. I don't have any concrete resources for you, but you could Google for 'Rayleigh scattering' for material on this. Rayleigh scattering is the scattering of light from particles smaller than the light's wavelength, though there are other physical models of scattering from larger particles.
