Hi I have a DX9.0c viewer (.x files only ;0)) based on the book of frank di luna : Introduction to 3D Game Programming with DirectX 9.0 , I want to know how to show a texture representing my company logo before starting the viewer (as a 5 seconds splsh screen-in fullscreen mode) a source code or an example would be very appreciated 1000 thanxxx

I think you might be able to use the Sleep function. Here is a link where you can find information about the Sleep function.

To use the sleep function you have to give it the time in millisec, so something like this.

Sleep(5000); // 5000 millisec = 5 sec

I wouldn't recommend using Sleep(), since that effectively freezes your app for 5 seconds, and may even make windows show the "The application is not responding" dialog.

Instead, you'd want to load a texture (With D3DXCreateTextureFromFile()), set it as the active texture (pDevice->SetTexture(0, pTexture);), then render a single quad (I'd just use DrawPrimitiveUP() with transformed vertices). You'll want to render at full speed, and after 5 seconds have elapsed, move on to something else. You don't want to just render and then wait, you'd be better rendering the same thing repeatedly.
