Hello all, I was curious if anyone can explain how dynamic lighting and shadowing can be used with 2d pre-rendered background in 3D app. Certain, newer adventure games do this: http://www.adventurecompanygames.com/tac/agatha_doublepack/index.php http://www.adventurecompanygames.com/tac/crime_stories/index.php These are just a few examples, plenty more games do this. If anyone wants to let me pick their brain about this, it would be much appreciated. Regards, Rendman

If you also pre-render a depth and normal map with the background, then you could certainly do dynamic lighting ala deferred rendering.

Thanks for the quick reply, I will look up what depth and normal maps, so I can fully understand what you are talking about. (I'm pretty stupid when it comes to 3D)

I appreciate it. I'm sure I will have more questions, after I read up a little bit.
