Okay I'm just gonna make a thread and you guys can let it go to the bottom as long as google finds this and helps anyone else that runs into this problem. "Files has invalid value "0 *H". Illegal characters in path." It occurs with a project. The only way to fix it is to copy the files to a new project and it will be gone. I have no idea why it pops up but I can only figure it's a bug with VS 2008. This happened to be with a Class Library so yeah anyone else with a similar problem this is the solution. Hopefully someone else won't waste 2 hours hunting for this "Illegal characters".

Before you made that new project and copied over the files, did you check to see what the project files contained via a text editor?
