OpenGL gluLookAt - changing pitch

I've followed this tutorial (http://www.lighthouse3d.com/opengl/glut/index.php?6) for creating a movable camera using gluLookAt. However, this tutorial only focuses on changing the direction on the XZ plane. I would also like the ability to change direction in the YZ plane as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
