Well... It all started because I couldn't load the bitmap from lesson 6 I red all the precedent posts searching for somebody who could help me and I found a post from Sketchy. I replied to him that I NEVER succeed to load NeHe.bmp from lesson6.zip: I've tried changing the screen resolution(16,24 and 32 bit 640x480 and 800x600), I 've have tried giving a full path (c:/windows/desktop/data/NeHe.bmp)... the compilation and the linking goes ok but I get "Initialization failed" anyway!!! Then oglman told me to "mess around with the caps" but it wasn't that. I've visited the Glsetup site (http://www.glsetup.com/ihvs/matrox/g200/index.htm) and they say that the Matrox G200 card that I had, crash when loading textures because of one bug in glTexImage when the texture bits end on a page boundary. So at this point I've asked: I have to change my video card or there's another way to do the same thing? I use Lccwin32 compiler and to succeed in compilation and linking with it I've had to substitute bits ( in the Pixelformatdescriptor field ) with a number (16, 24 or 32) because it gave me this two errors: initializer must be constant and too many initializers maybe this has something to do with the non loading of the bitmap? And now, after a reformating of my hard disk I've changed the card(Nvdia Asus AGP v3800) but I've not recompiled the thing yet! I post this because I believe the problem is in the code rather than the card because when I still had the matrox card on my computer I tried to run the exe resulted on another computer with this other card and it was the same! I think that's all for now! Edited by - Akeron on June 7, 2001 6:46:52 PM Edited by - Akeron on June 7, 2001 6:50:05 PM

I just tested the code you posted using VC6.0, and it worked perfectly.
If I didn''t have the nehe.bmp bitmap in the correct folder I got the "initialization failed" message you mention, other than that there were no problems.

Uhmm, I see...
Unfortunately I don''t possess VisualC++, I use the free compiler
Lcc-win32 and at this point I suspect the problem is in the libs
of the compiler I use(but in this case it''s the first time I have a problem like this with it!) .
Is there someone who use the same compiler and can help me?
How can I test if the problem is this ?

Then I can recommend getting Dev-C++. It's a free IDE using the MinGW32 compiler (MinGW32 is a Win32 port of the GCC compiler).

[EDIT: fixed the URL]

Uhmm... the fact is, I''ve got DevC++, but it does NOT compile
with the glaux library!
Thank you anyway, I think I''m gonna give up!!!!!!!
