But I don't feel it's right for activist mobs to jink the rating system over an issue so outside the actual content and gameplay of the game-- that gets into the whole tyranny of the mob dynamic.
I would have to agree with you if those reviews were on a gaming website. However though since this is on Amazon, I personally see this as a full product review. Though maybe that's just me?
All the time I see in reviews on books that come with weak bindings that fall apart too easily, or missing CDs though this is much more rare. I think these kind of details are definitely important in a consumer's decision to buy the product. Most reviews are pretty honest and mention those kind of facts, but still go on to rate the content.
Reading some of those reviews though, even game content readings didn't look so comforting. Some people really enjoyed the game, but it seems (at least from what I've read) that most people found that the game isn't as fun/great as expected/hoped.
Personally I would like to play the game and try it out to get a full picture and experience for myself. Though those reviews alone have definitely made me decide for sure that I am never going to buy the game. If someone I know has it then I might play, but otherwise, no.
Let this be a reminder to EA that anti-pirating counter-measures can hurt you far more than pirating can if you really screw up. Also a truth that any company should be aware of, ratings can make or break you. Not that they didn't know this, but they are definitely going to have to do some self-examining if they want to clean up their act.
Edit: Oh I guess I should have read TrapperZoid's post before making mine, I just realised he also said what I was thinking haha.
