Does anyone know how to startup DirectSound in something other then NORMAL mode? If so, can you explain it OR give me a link to the page you learned it from?

Do you want to know how to start up in, say, priority mode?

If so, just change the 2nd parameter in your call to SetCooperativeLevel to DSSCL_PRIORITY, or whatever level you want.

The different levels and what they do are documented in the help file under IDirectSound8::SetCooperativeLevel.

Cheers,
John

I think working through the help file tutorial would be helpful to you.

In the DX8 help click "DX Audio" -> "Using DirectX Audio" -> "Wave Playback in DirectSound"

It is a step-by-step guide to setting up DirectSound and playing a wav file.

Cheers,
John
