I've been working on a personal site and I've ran into some issues while setting up my navigation. To get an example of the problem go to the link below and hover over the word Portfolio. http://home.insightbb.com/~epyonxl The problem: The background that displays when you hover over Portfolio gets cut off. What I'm looking for: The background to display in full without moving bordering text(which seems to me z-index would be the only solution) I've tried using span as well as z-index to get the background to display properly. If anyone could give me a hand I'd really appreciate it. ~Thanks

The background image is cropped because the <a> tag is smaller than the background image. If you want the <a> tag to be the same size as the image, then you will need to set it to "display:block" in you style sheet, and possibly do some other tricks ("float:left", etc, to get the position right. This article at A List Apart is a good place to get you started.
