Hey Im new :) I have a general question I hope someone can give me an answer even though it's really out there: I was wondering how in games like World of Warcraft for example, the 3d models that are created in programs like "3d studio max" are combined in the programming itself? if someone can give me a quick answer and maybe some reading material, that would be great.

Hi n14Charlie!

Programmers write programs that run inside of 3dsmax (these are known as "plugins"). These programs convert 3D data (models) from 3dsmax's internal data format into a data format that's understood by the game (such as a World of Warcraft). These plugins are often known as "exporters".

There are a few standards when it comes to exporters. For a bunch of good reading, try Collada:

Good luck!
