Uint32 colorkey = SDL_MapRGB( optimizedImage->format, 255, 255, 255 ); and SDL_Color = {255,255,255}; what's the difference between the two? how can i ues them in SDL?

The first is a Uint32 in the optimizedImage's format. This is what actually gets written to the screen. The second is 3 bytes in a universal RGB format. As for how you use them in SDL, you use whichever the function requires! Colours don't do anything by themselves...
