When my loading functions have all finished, the memory usage in task manager, is around 100mb, but when i start rendering i noticed that the first time a D3DX object is rendered, it adds more to the memory usage, just wondering if this is normal? Basically, the first time each mesh is rendered, via ObjectsToRender->MeshData->mesh->DrawSubset(s); the memory usage goes up, until each object has been rendered once I guess this is the point where Directx is putting memory in optimized places? as i set the memory usage as D3DXMESH_MANAGED. Just wanted to confirm this, or if you could explain what is happening, (oh, and i gather task manager is not that accurate) thanks

Sounds normal to me. The managed pool works by keeping a system memory copy of the data, and then creating and uploading a default pool copy when it's needed. The memory increase you're seeing is D3D uploading managed resources into the default pool and sending them to the card.

So yes, it's normal.
