The other day I used the DAT.EXE utility that comes with Allegro to extract the graphics from a game called The Project 2, which was made with Allegro. The problem was, the colors in the BMP files were all messed up. I tried extracting them with the palette option, and in both True Color and 256-color modes, and it made no difference. How can I extract those GFX files with the correct colors?

I haven''t used Allegro in ages, but as I remember if you have an 8bit image in a dat file you also need its palette in that dat file. If you''re using the graphical dat util, try double clicking on that palette, that will make it the current palette that all 8bit images will be displayed in, and the image will look right if the palette you clicked on was its original palette. I don''t know how you''d do it with the commandline dat util.
