glCopyTexImage2D( GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGBA16F_ARB, 0, 0, WINDOW_WIDTH, WINDOW_HEIGHT, 0 ); Drops my frame rate from about 160 to 40 fps on my school computers. They have the GForce 7800 GPU - Is this typical? Is there an easy fix other than rewritting my whole render loop? Thanks stringa

This result is typical, yes.
GeForce 7800 supports Frame Buffer Objects (FBO), which are faster than copying the data using glCopyTexImage.

Well, I'm already using 4 fbo's throughout my render loop. I'm using Deferred Shading it's kinda a long story, but I want to copy the current posted lighted and post shadowed image back into an FBO which contains the current Depth buffer that was used to render all objects.

I may just have to rewrite how I render...

Well, glTexSubImage2D gives the same results. On my computer with a GeForce 8600, I get 100 fps...but at school it's 40fps, and the school computers are the "target" machines.
