OpenGL Force Feedback

Hi all, I've been reading up on the MSDN knowledge base and can't figure out where to start. I have an OpenGL program in C++ on Visual Studio 2008. Basically its a "driving simulator" using random white dots on a horizontal plane. Using sine functions, it uses optic flow to simulate driving. I need to implement a logitech force feedback wheel with the program. Right now, the program does not take any input at all. I would like to start out with just getting the wheel to represent movement, like a mouse. and then up to getting force feedback. I have no experience with directX whatsoever. And i am a beginner with OpenGL and C++. Any tips for me?
