Hi all I have a good knowledge of c++, and would like to possible design a few games (basic games). I have downloaded a copy of orge as someone said this would be a good starting point, but I would like to start with the bare basic's, like drawing a square or two and getting them to move about screen. Does arge have this facility or am I totally going in the wrong direction.

I would say that if you're just starting out with graphics dev, then using a full engine might be too much. Start by going through some of DirecX's or OpenGLs tutorials to do some basic 2D ,or if you dare to venture, 3D drawing.
