custom 3ds max model exporter

I've seen it mentioned several times and after writing and using my own .3DS model loader, I would really like to try it out myself. So how do I write my own script for exporting models in 3DS Max (MaxScript)? Any tutorials? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. I can't help you much because I've never used 3ds recently. I've written a simple exporter in the past though, and at that time I didn't have an internset connection, so everything I did was thank to the 3ds documentation. I wrote vertex data in a plain txt file, and it has been a quite straighforward job..
