Animated texture

Hi guys. I am using C++/DirectX 9.0c to write my 3d puzzle game. I would like to have an animated background texture much like Lumines. I don't care about sound but I want to have atleast maybe 300 or more frames in the animation. I was wondering which method would be the best approach. 1. Render an AVI to a texture 2. Load an image and scroll the UVS 3. Other suggestions? I am not sure which method would be the best. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance!
