2D Game Engine...how?
Hello,
Ok so up to this point I have been messing around with DirectX and asking questions here to get somewhat basically familiar with it. Now I think I’m ready to start doing something with it. So I have set up a full screen window with a black background with DirectX and a simple game loop. But I’m stuck, right now I’m trying to make a 2D game engine that I can work on and improve as I get better at programming games as I go. But I don't think I understand enough about what a game engine is and what it does other than help organize a bunch of code. I don't know where to start. So I searched here for how to make a 2D game engine with Direct3D but I had no luck, are there any articles here about that or any suggestions you might have?
Thanks

i think that everyone should read that (or a summary of that) everyday...
but to address the original point:
you do not say what language you are using (i'm guessing c++...) but i would google 'c++ directx space invaders' and see where you go from there
